jekyllhugo You may have heard about Headless CMS, but not sure what exactly it is and what the hype is all about. Essentially a headless CMS is one that stripes the ‘head’ (the front end of the website) off from the ‘body’ (the back end, i.e. the content repository). So when we’re talking about headless CMS we’re talking about a back-end only Content Management System (CMS) built from the ground up as a content repository accessible via a RESTful API for display on any device.

The great thing about using a headless CMS is that it’s extremely versatile and flexible. Perhaps one of the biggest selling points for us at Surf Coast Digital is that it strips out a lot of complexity engrained with other CMS platforms and simplifies the dev cycle for us.

Another huge draw for us is that headless CMS is not limited to websites, but can also be applied for Apps and therfore a powerful option for mobile and web app developers. Content is delivered through an API only when you need it.

There are already some great headless CMS options out there that we recommend including: Storyblok, Contentful and Prismic.

So in summary, headless CMS are great because:

It allows for code simplicity Gives developers full control Offers cross-platform support More than just website development, but integrates with Apps as well

If you would like to make the switch over to headless CMS for your website or Web app then get in touch with us.
